What Volunteers Can Do: |
| |
As a volunteer with our Dental Care Program in La Ceiba, Honduras, you will assist dental care professionals at a local hospital. Many poor families in Honduras don't have access to proper dental care, and local care providers lack funding and resources. Volunteers will help dentists by preparing and sterilizing supplies and contributing to the maintenance and cleaning of the facilities. Volunteers will also help to educate local children about oral hygiene. |

Why Volunteer in Honduras? |
| |
Located in Central America between the Caribbean Sea the Pacific Ocean, Honduras offers beautiful beaches, dense rainforests, and impressive Mayan ruins for the adventurous traveller. However, Honduras is not without its problems, and its public health care system is one of the worst in Latin America. There are very few adequate hospitals, and most middle class families are unable to afford them.
Many people in Honduras do not seek or have access to regular dental care, and most dental clinics are under-funded. Volunteers in this program will provide much needed support to Honduran dentists as well as important oral hygiene education to local children. |

Honduras Dental Care Program Goals: |
| |
The goal of the Honduras Dental Care Volunteer Program is to improve the quality of and access to dental care for poor families in Honduras. Volunteers will support this goal by helping with simple daily tasks in the dental clinics, assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of facilities, and educating the local population on the importance of dental hygiene. The dentists of the local community will be forever grateful for your help. |
