What Volunteers Can Do: |
| |
Volunteers in this program will teach English to children and young people in local Honduras schools in La Ceiba and surrounding areas. These areas are very poor, and most students never have the opportunity to interact with native English speakers. In this program, volunteers will help children learn the correct pronunciation of English words and basic English grammar. Volunteers will provide students with a unique educational opportunity and a chance to learn a valuable skill for future employment. A typical English class averages about 30 students. |

Why Volunteer in Honduras? |
| |
Honduras sits between the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean and is full of lush jungles, impressive volcanoes, whitewater rapids, and tranquil beaches. Tourism in Honduras continues to grow, and the country is especially favored among backpackers for its laid-back vibe and affordable, delicious cuisine. La Ceiba in particular is known as "The Capital of Tourism", due to its strategic location on the Caribbean coast. For young Hondurans living in La Cieba, speaking and understanding English is of utmost importance to become a part of the growing tourism industry and to find a way out of poverty. |

Honduras Teach English Program Goals: |
| |
The goal of the Honduras Teach English Volunteer Program is to provide quality English instruction to poor students who don't normally have access to such an opportunity. Native English speakers are in high demand, particularly for teaching proficiency in English conversation and pronunciation. Volunteers in this program will not only help to teach proper English pronunciation and grammar, but will also inspire these young children to learn and grow. |
