Day 1
Arrival, Welcome Lunch, Relax
 

Welcome to Brazil! When you arrive at the airport in Rio de Janeiro, a van and a guide will be there to welcome your group. You will then go to your hotel to unpack and relax before lunch. After lunch, your group will take a tour of the city. You will then return to your hotel for dinner and some free time. 

   
Day 2
Orientation, Welcome Lunch, Visit NGO
 

After breakfast, you will go to our center for an orientation in order to learn more about Brazilian culture and logistics of living and working in Rio de Janeiro. You will then have a welcome lunch at our center. In the afternoon, you will visit the local non-profit organization where you will be volunteering. You will learn about the goals of the organization and how you can help during your time abroad. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then some free time to relax. 

   
Day 3
Portuguese Classes, Volunteer Work, Corcovado Mountain
 

You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in volunteer work for the afternoon. Specific volunteer duties will be determined on-site. You will then visit Corcovado Mountain to see the world-renowned Christ the Redeemer statue overlooking Rio. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then some free time to relax.

   
Day 4
Portuguese Classes, Lecture on Brazilian History, Volunteer Work
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in a lecture on Brazilian History and Society. You will then participate in volunteer work for the afternoon. Specific volunteer duties will be determined on-site. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then some free time to relax.
   
Day 5
Sugar Loaf Mountain, Volunteer Work
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then embark on a visit to Sugar Loaf Mountain, one Rio de Janeiro’s most spectacular sights. Your group will have the opportunity to sample local cuisine at any one of local restaurants in the area. You will then travel to the non-profit organization to participate in volunteer work for the afternoon. Specific volunteer duties will be determined on-site. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then some free time to relax.
   
Day 6
Portuguese Classes, Volunteer Work, Feijoada Dinner
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in volunteer work. Specific volunteer duties will be determined on-site. For dinner, your group will enjoy a feijoada—a traditional Brazilian meal that is unforgettable. Later, you can explore the chic neighborhood of Ipanema, which is full of colorful cafes and vibrant nightlife.
   
Day 7
Petropolis Visit
  You will wake up earlier than usual to travel to visit the town of Petropolis. Petropolis used to be the favorite getaway of the Brazilian royal family and today it boasts beautiful old architecture and a wonderful array of boutiques and cafes. You will spend the night in this enchanting town.
   
Day 8
Petropolis, Beaches of Rio
  After breakfast at your hotel, you will have time to explore Petropolis on your own, allowing you to appreciate the various art galleries all over the city. After lunch, your group will travel back to Rio de Janeiro to experience Rio’s world-famous beaches Copacabana and Ipanema. You will then go back to your hotel for dinner and then some free time to relax.
   
Day 9
Portuguese Classes, Volunteer Work, Botanical Gardens
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then will attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in volunteer work. Specific duties will be determined on-site. Your group will then visit Rio de Janeiro’s beautiful Botanical Gardens, which are 200 years old. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and some free time to relax.
   
Day 10
Portuguese Classes, Modern Art Museum, Reflection Meeting
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then will attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, your group will visit the Modern Art Museum to get a glimpse into Brazil’s intriguing modern art scene. You will then return to our center for a reflection meeting. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then relax.
   
Day 11
Portuguese Classes, Volunteer Work, Banco do Brasil Cultural Center
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then will attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in volunteer work. Specific duties will be determined on-site. In the evening, your group will visit the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center which offers Brazilian cinema and art exhibitions. You will have dinner on the town and return to sleep at your hotel.
   
Day 12
Portuguese Classes, Volunteer Work, Farewell Party
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then will attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will participate in volunteer work. Specific duties will be determined on-site. After you have completed your duties for the day, you will have a farewell party at the non-profit organization. In the evening, you will have dinner at your hotel and then some free time to relax.
   
Day 13
Portuguese Classes, Exploration Time, Farewell Dinner
  You will eat breakfast at your hotel, and then will attend Portuguese classes until lunch. After lunch, you will have time to explore the city one last time and perhaps take in a final day at the beach. In the evening, you will participate in a farewell dinner.
   
Day 14
Departure
  After breakfast at your hotel, you will have the opportunity to run any last-minute errands and explore the city one last time before departing for home.
