“[My favorite part of volunteering was] meeting new people and working with the children. It was interesting to see different types of after-school care in another country.”
Caroline Karoczkai
"This program allowed me to take Spanish courses and volunteer at the same time. I was able to accomplish a lot in a short period of time. [My favorite part of the experience was] feeling like [I] really connected and made a difference in the community."

Why Service Learn in Buenos Aires?
The bustling capital of Argentina is home to over 9 million people, along with most of the nation’s businesses and social organizations, making it an ideal location to better understand the dynamics of the Argentine economy. Ranging from multinational corporations to homegrown local businesses, Buenos Aires’ financial sector is an engaging example of the diversity of Latin American economies. But despite its vibrant capital, diverse economy, and a wealth of natural resources, Argentina has seen its fair share of financial ups and downs. Most recently, the nation’s default on international loans and currency devaluation have made it one of the most interesting case studies in modern economic theory.
Argentina’s severe economic struggles in the last decade have led to a large disparity between rich and poor and to a host of newfound social problems. Even Argentines who were once part of a solid middle class now live in poverty, with limited access to education, heath care, and profitable employment. Through working with our local partner organization in Buenos Aires, service learning participants will interact with all levels of Argentine society and have the opportunity make a difference in the lives of underprivileged citizens, while gaining a deeper understanding of the inner workings of the Argentine economy and society.
Three Good Reasons to Study in Buenos Aires:
Known as the "Paris of South America," Buenos Aires is an excellent place to study Argentina's unique European heritage.
Argentina’s recent economic crisis and the policies that proceeded it make Buenos Aires an excellent place to study modern Latin American economics.
With such a unique political and economic history, Argentina is an ideal place to study economic issues.
