"This program allowed me to take Spanish courses and volunteer at the same time. I was able to accomplish a lot in a short period of time. [My favorite part of the experience was] feeling like [I] really connected and made a difference in the community."

Why Service Learn in Salta?
Located in one of Argentina’s most scenic regions, Salta is known as “La Linda” (the beautiful) for its picturesque plazas, colonial Spanish architecture, and spectacular natural surroundings. Salta is also home to the largest indigenous population in Argentina. In fact, the area bears more resemblance to areas of Peru and Bolivia than it does to the cosmopolitan city of Buenos Aires, which makes it ideal for exploring indigenous culture.
Unfortunately, Salta also suffers from extreme poverty, unhealthy living conditions, and a bleak future for its children. In order to address these issues, our partner organizations in Salta have launched a variety of outreach programs to help residents in need. They work to feed community members (especially children), organize craft and vocational workshops, teach English to local residents, and provide recreational activities for youth. Service learning participants in Salta have the opportunity to help our partner organizations in these efforts, while interacting with a culturally rich and underrepresented population in Argentina.
Three Good Reasons to Study in Salta:
Known as "La Linda" (the beautiful), Salta is famous for its colonial architecture, picturesque plazas, and beautiful natural surroundings.
The region surrounding Salta is home to the largest indigenous population in Argentina.
Salta's proximity to national parks and pre-Colombian ruins makes it an ideal location to explore the unique history of northern Argentina.
