“[My favorite part of volunteering was] meeting new people and working with the children. It was interesting to see different types of after-school care in another country.”
Caroline Karoczkai
"This program allowed me to take Spanish courses and volunteer at the same time. I was able to accomplish a lot in a short period of time. [My favorite part of the experience was] feeling like [I] really connected and made a difference in the community."

Why Service Learn in Santiago?
Having experienced nearly two decades of economic growth and political stability, Chile is often considered a role model for Latin America. The nation’s unprecedented development is the result of successful economic reforms that took place with the restoration of democracy in the early 1990s, and nowhere is this success more evident than in the bustling capital of Santiago. The city offers service learning participants an up-close view into the dynamics of Chilean businesses and society with its interesting blend of contrasts: colonial architecture and modern skyscrapers, home-grown businesses and multinational corporations, local social organizations and major foreign investments, elegant shopping and busy street markets.
However, despite the considerable accomplishments of the Chilean government and its economy, income distribution remains highly unequal and many Chileans struggle to meet their daily needs. Working with our local partner organizations gives participants the chance to not only help make a difference in the lives of Chileans, but also to get an unparalleled opportunity to learn more about the nation’s economy and society by interacting with its disadvantaged citizens in a unique and meaningful way.
Three Good Reasons to Study in Santiago
Chile’s economy, one of the strongest and most stable in the region, is often referred to as a model for other Latin American countries and is a major draw for foreign business and investment.
Santiago is the capital city and home to one-third of the country's population, along with a variety of business and social organizations working to improve the lives of Chile’s citizens.
The home of many multinational companies and the headquarters of a plethora of Latin American organizations, Santiago is the perfect destination for networking.
