What Volunteers Can Do: |
| |
Volunteers in the South Africa Teach Preschool Program will provide education and mentorship to disadvantaged children in the community of Chintsa. Volunteers will work in a supportive and professional team-teaching environment leading games, activities, and lessons every morning. Volunteers also have the option of working at the school in the afternoons and providing one-on-one mentorship to individual students. By participating in this program, volunteers will provide extraordinary learning opportunities for children living in poverty in South Africa. |

Why Volunteer in South Africa? |
| |
Located at the southern tip of Africa, South Africa is renowned for its long coastline, varied landscapes, and diverse culture. Yet South Africa suffers from innumerable social and political challenges. The poverty and crime that plagues the country's rural communities affects the development of its children; thus, a quality education is the best way to drive positive change in these children's lives. Unfortunately this is not an easy task, particularly as funding and resources for education are lacking in rural communities. The enthusiasm and energy of international volunteers is needed in order to give these children the educational opportunities they deserve. |

South Africa Teach Preschool Program Goals: |
| |
The goal of this program is to provide a productive preschool environment for a select group of children who come from a very poor and rural area of Chintsa, South Africa. The program's philosophy is that the most effective way to drive positive change in South Africa is to ensure that children receive a good quality and continuous education, from preschool to matriculation. Volunteers will contribute to this goal by providing support and assistance in a local preschool. Volunteers can teach English, lead arts and crafts activities, and play games with the children. The volunteers' presence makes a huge difference, which can clearly be seen in the smiles on the children's faces! |
