What Volunteers Can Do: |
| |
Volunteers in our Swaziland Build a Future Program will help to build houses, schools, and other necessary structures for impoverished children and families. Volunteers will use local building materials and techniques and will work in cooperation with the local children. Volunteers in this program will make an important contribution to one of Africa's last remaining monarchies, where the HIV/AIDS epidemic has left many orphaned children with inadequate shelter. |

Why Volunteer in Swaziland? |
| |
In 2005 about 40% of Swaziland's population was HIV positive, and by 2010 there will be close to 200,000 orphaned children in the kingdom. Many of these children are left without parents or adults to lead their households, and are thus lacking the resources and necessary skills to build and maintain their houses and other infrastructures.
This program involves working with a number of small care centers and non-profit organizations in Swaziland who are assisting orphans and vulnerable children. Volunteers will work together with the children, providing basic shelter and also teaching important skills. These communities are home to a growing number of children who are left to run their own households. These children are highly vulnerable and desperately need support. |

Swaziland Build a Future Program Goals: |
| |
The Build a Future Volunteer Program aims to assist the vulnerable children of Swaziland in a number of different ways. The construction of basic shelters, gardens, water systems, and other physical structures provide much-needed infrastructure to care centers and households. By working in cooperation with the local children, volunteers in this program will transfer and teach valuable skills, provide basic shelter, and act as adult role models for the children. The program also benefits the local community by using traditional Swazi building materials whenever possible. The Build a Future Program caters to individuals wanting to make a difference and groups interested in tackling large-scale building programs. |
