"[My volunteer work] was definitely a highlight of my time in Rio. Not just a school, but also a caring community for the kids in Pavao-Pavaozinho, [the center] offers valuable programs such as music, computers, and 'capoeira.' I was warmly received by both students and staff. I hope this organization continues to make forward progress in all their efforts."

  Youth Outreach Project
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Change the lives of underprivileged children when you volunteer with our Youth Outreach Project in Brazil.

In our Youth Outreach Project in Brazil, you will be working with local youth in a community education center near the favelas (shantytowns) of Rio de Janeiro. The families served by the center are often trapped in a negative cycle of poverty, low education, and unemployment. Volunteers will be working to break that cycle in a variety of ways, including teaching English classes to young people, tutoring students, and helping organize scholastic and recreational activities.

Our Youth Outreach Project also gives you the unique opportunity to be a mentor and role model to the youth of the favelas, encouraging them to seek higher education and productive employment. As a volunteer in Brazil, you will be helping promote the health and education of underprivileged children, as well as giving them the individual attention they crave and deserve.

Our Partners
Our partner organization has actively helped the communities in two favelas for over 20 years. The lack of basic needs, violence, illiteracy, and the complete absence of essential governmental services are part of these communities’ daily routine. The organization takes in children as young as a few months old; educates, feeds, and teaches them various skills; and most importantly, demonstrates that they care. Through education, sports, art, and other activities, the institution increases the children’s chances of having better futures and fulfilling their dreams. Health services are also offered for the children and their families.
