“My students at the orphanage were fabulous boys. They were very keen to learn, and also extremely caring and thoughtful. They had no money, but put their money together to buy me some local food that I had never tried! They also walked me to the metro every evening…I really miss them.”

  Teach English Project
Santiago, Chile

Teach English and make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged young men when you volunteer with our Teach English Project in Santiago, Chile.

As a volunteer on our Teach English Project, you will be working with our partner organization which serves to shelter youth throughout Chile. Young men come to the organization due to abuse, neglect, abandonment, and/or poverty in their homes. Our partners in Santiago give the boys a safe place to develop, live, and learn. They also take great care that each boy receives the care and attention he may have lacked in his own home.

Volunteers will be teaching English to young men aged 12 to 19 in two boys' homes run by the organization. You will be providing the young men with a crucial opportunity to broaden their horizons and learn an important skill for their future—English. You will also have time to help them with other homework assignments or just to give them the attention that they need at this critical time in their lives.

Our Partners
Our partner organization runs two homes for boys in Santiago. The young men that live and study in these homes have been removed from their families for a wide variety of reasons, including abusive living situations, neglect, and poverty. Generally, they have been taken from their homes by the justice or law enforcement systems. The staff at our partner organization strives to provide the safest and most nurturing environment for the children to develop. Their job is often difficult due to the many problems the youngsters bring with them to the home, and they greatly appreciate the help of volunteers.
