Help alleviate social problems and open doors for disadvantaged local residents when you volunteer with our Art Outreach Project in Tapalpa, Mexico.
As a volunteer with our unique Art Outreach Project, you will help provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people in rural Jalisco, Mexico through artistic activities and educational programs. In response to widespread poverty throughout the communities of Jalisco, many fathers have fled to the United States, hoping to create a better life for their families. This migration and the ensuing atmosphere of broken families have resulted in variety of social and emotional disadvantages for the local population.
Our Art Outreach Project works with residents in Tapalpa who are physically, emotionally and socially disadvantaged. Through art workshops and other cultural activities, local people can be exposed to the arts, and develop their creative skills and self-confidence. They will also learn how sell their artwork, which generates income for broken families and disadvantaged communities, thereby enriching their quality of life.
Volunteers in Mexico can choose to spend their time in public schools, at an education center, or at community art workshops. All projects will combine aspects of culture, recreation, and work habits to foster the growth of the human spirit and enhance creative ways of thinking and living. As a volunteer on this project, you can teach young people how to draw, paint, and create paper maché artwork from recycled products. Volunteers can also teach art classes to students at the education center, or English and computer skills to local schoolchildren. Your work on this project will help strengthen the self-confidence and skill development of local residents suffering from various disabilities and disadvantages.
As a volunteer you can:
Help children and young adults create paper maché art, paintings, and tapestries.
Teach art, dance, drama, music, computer skills, and English.
Enable socially and mentally disadvantaged children and teenagers to use art as a means of income and personal growth.
Strengthen the self-confidence and skill development of those who are physically disadvantaged.
Assist in developing and implementing intervention programs in schools.
Provide parents with the tools and education to foster growth and lifestyle changes.
